So I was thinking of something witty and self referential to put here which would have you screaming that I wasted your time and me berating you for reading my blog because it's a waste of time, but I'm rather tipsy and thus forgot.

Oh wait. I did just waste your time. "I knew it! I knew you would waste my time! I should have spent my time on the market! MAKING BILLLLLLIIIONSSS!!"

"Wait, you knew I would waste your time, yet you still came here?"

So yeah, bad meta-humour aside. Today I tried a new drink I have been meaning to try.

Death in the Afternoon.

Purported to be invented by Ernest Hemingway in one of his books or something. Use the Google machine.

The idea is, chilled champagne is added to absinthe. A match made in heaven, right!?

Apparently "A jigger" (or a jigger and a half, I think a jigger is a shot...) of absinthe is added to a champagne glass. Then champagne (or the generic equivalent) is added to it.

I tried it for the first time tonight. The first time, I used fresh champagne/ sparkling wine. It was quite good. The fizziness of the champagne stopped the taste of the absinthe. I drank some more stuff and then prayed while coming home to avoid being stopped by the cops. PRAYER WORKS BITCHES! (I'm sorry God, I realise that it's more complicated than that, and thank you for letting me not get screwed over by the cops...)

Now I'm home, and I had a bit of absinthe and a bit of champagne left. So I did an impromptu death in the afternoon.

Here's how it looked:

I'm out of absinthe! :< On a related issue, Death in the Afte... on Twitpic

Yes, that's a pillow behind it. It's the only white thing I had. Deal with it!

So, I like how the thing louched (gone cloudy) down the bottom (absinthe has a higher alcohol content, alcohol is less dense therefore champagne sinks). It's a cool eery green drink.

So yeah, I just had that now, and I'm rather tipsy. This is a good thing. My lasagne is coldening in the microwave as I type, but my final thought is that I love that I can get like 35 or so standard drinks worth of not terrible tasting liquor (chick's drinks) for $40.

Dan Murphy's + Generic Rip Offs = SAVINGS!!! + Alcoholism

Oh, btw, I blame the silliness of this post on my tipsiness. (That is, the inhibitions that stop me from caring about what I unleash upon you are hiding in a dark cave.)
